Where It All Started

Started in 1990, Mr. Sylvan Mitchell and a very good friend embarked on the vision of them going into business together.
Really, his friend had already established the business and approached Sylvan to join him as a partner. They began the paperwork of registration as a partnership, and the friend migrated. So, Mr. Mitchell decided to foot the journey on his own and bought the partner’s shares. Hence it becomes a fully owned business in 1992 of September.

JAMSEW Machine Sales and Service were officially registered as a Limited Liability Co. in 1992 and had its first location at Slipe Road. It then relocated to 24 Halfway Tree Road and is now at its current location at 31 Halfway Tree Road. 

The various locations within the Down Town community and its environs hold a certain appeal to Mr. Mitchell as he has worked most of his life there. He has engendered himself within the landscape of the community and therefore, his services provided to the many clients over the years are testimonies.

For Mr. Mitchell, his pool of clients is from the domestic and industrial machine users’ community. He is a retailer of most if not all the domestic and industrial machines for any need. His vast inventories are inclusive of Garment manufacturers’ sewing machines, Upholsterers machines, industrial companies’ sewing machines, as well as domestic machines.

Apart from his providing goods and services of well-known sewing machines for the production industry, he is the sole provider of sewing machine and services for the Caribbean Broilers, JFMills, Coffee industry. He being a Jamaican ensures he gives his country 100% service. He is also a member of the Kiwanis club for as long as he can remember. Being a licensed Mechanical Engineer, he was a big part of the many years of the 807 Garment Manufacturing Industries in the early 70s’. He worked within the industry from 1978- 1992 until he ventured into being his own boss.
